SOCIAL JUDGER

Gelatin silver prints  50.8 x 61 cm (20 x 24 in.)

Interactive installation, sound, a photobook

“Social Judger” is a photographic interactive installation about losing one’s true self in the endless stream of socialized perception and judgement. From your appearance to how you should behave as an individual, you are always being judged from by a set of social norms. In order to fit into this prejudiced, patriarchal, and hierarchical world, your voice is being silenced and you gradually find yourself further from being who you truly are.

The work is a merging of photography and interactive art. When the audiences look through the camera on the installation, their eyes are captured and reflected onto a plain white mannequin in real time. These reflections are duplicated and twisted, along with an echo of overlapping voices of judgement being played in the background.
